I attended a talk by the designer Martino Gamper at the Art Institute of Chicago and loved his chair project. He has made 100 chairs in 100 days using discarded chairs from the streets of London and his friends home! What I liked about him during the talk was his honesty and being able to deem some of his own work ugly. He seemed very comfortable in what he is and does, and open to criticism, which is why I find his work rather interesting.
